There's moments in time that just leave you awestruck. I'm sure seeing those in real life was something to behold.

If you forgot the grey skies, the fact that the city was all but closed down due to ice, and wondering when you'll get power back..

Yes, it was breathtaking.

Why did you choose a higher ISO for this shot? Very nice though.

Well... Um..

It was an accident.

Basically, I was too eager, and rushed getting everything set up.

Actually, it was because of that that I have a "cheat sheet" of settings to check (which has since been completely internalized).

The fact that you get the chance to catch this sort of miraculous natural anomoly makes me green with envy. That you had the skill and equiptment to take that photograph makes the green monster want to eat you. Brilliant job.

 I love your analogy!

Thank you so much for the comment, and perhaps more importantly, making me smile. I'm glad you like the image.

Now, I've gotta run away from that green monster of yours.

:sprint:

Erm... Is it tamed?

Sure. Praise is always given where it's deserved. It's really quite spectacular.

Heh. It's tame just so long as you don't take any more pictures like these. I'm jealous as a mofo. *tear*

I love the bright colors. The shape of the ice is lovely as well.

You mention the blur, but I think it goes really well.

Beautiful... The Background looka great to me.. No pink... Nice DOF... Althought if it were blowing around aa lot I would have made my SS a bit faster... makes it easier to capture motion... But this is an awesome shot.......

If I cranked the shutter speed more, I lost all of that DOF I was trying to preserve.

Thank you for the comments! It's very appreciated. Thanks so much for the favorite too!

To my understanding... SS has nothing to do with DOF.... Its all about your f-stop or aperture..... =) Have I missed something?
And you are very welcome....

I was referring to the fact that when you approach the maximum apeture, your shutter speed has to be reduced to compensate for the smaller amounts of light reaching the film or sensor. Because of the uncontrolled environment, if I had lowered my shutter speed any more, I would have had irrevocable blurring.

I guess I didn't make it very clear as to what I was saying. :-)

Such a classic, but still in my top 3. I gotta tell you, I dream of taking pictures like that. The perspective is perfect. It's beautiful.

I feel like reaching out to catch that drop of water, but then I remember it's ice. =) It's like time was frozen. Nice work.
